My simple question is - what would be the best cutter for this application? and are there any specific tips for getting the cleanest edge cut? Thanks all

Screw Conversion Fail Help!

Hello

I’m having multiple problems with my machine after upgraded to screw drive.

1- Axis-Y left side and right side were moving to opposite directions, did try the fix changing the other to S0 and S1 respectively but didn’t help. So for curiosity took the cable from the right side and reversed the connector and worked perfectly. Weird?

2- When I try to jog Axis-X, it moves maybe maximum 10cm from home and then it gives me the Outside Machine Limits Error, Axis Y and Z I can jog them normally. Saw the solution posted already, but the suggested solution is regarding a job, I’m just trying to jog the machine.

3- When homing the machine Axis X and Z moves accordingly (to home) but Axis-Y moves forward (away from home), and it doesn’t help if change to S0 or S1, it always goes forward for homing.

Suggestions? Thanks.

I have the workbee from ooznest and I would like to transform it to adapt a laser module. But I didn’t have a lot of bugdet for this project. So, I know that optlasers shell a module at 90€ to adapt the controller with the laser module like this one for example: https://ortur.net/collections/optional-p...) but I would like to know if they are some alternatives and how to interface such kind of laser with the duet controller.

In this case I am trying to Vcarve some text into the surface of a 33mm piece of oak and I keep getting this error message. I’m not cutting anywhere near the table so I can’t see why the machine would think it will cut itself. I’ve played with the z safe height and tried everything from 10mm to 1mm and always the error. Is there perhaps something wrong with the physical height of the router in the bracket or the bracket to the machine?

I bought my workbee several months back, and I've been massively impressed by the support and guidance that the team at Ooznest has provided me with. But I still feel very much in over my head.

Ideal world of worlds, I'd love for someone to just talk me through the basics of having a CNC router; the day-to-day maintenance required; different terms; and perhaps a walk-through of a few different projects.

I'd happily pay for such a service; I'd otherwise welcome being put in touch with someone who could help me.

Gcode toolpath issue - is this a bug?

Hi all,

I have the new 1500x1500 Workbee Z1+ and so far so good, however I’ve noticed an issue which I’m not sure is a bug, or just me.

I’m using Carveco maker to generate the gcode. It will create something like this

T1
G17
G21
G90
G0Z7.0000
G0X0.0000Y0.0000
S18000M3
G0X265.6171Y261.2008Z7.0000
G1Z1.0000F1397.0
G1X275.6171Z-0.5000
G1X265.6171Z-2.0000
G1X280.0421F2794.0
X280.0421Y501.6258
X265.6171
Y261.2008
X250.6171Y246.2008
X295.0421Y246.2008
X295.0421Y516.6258
X250.6171

Because the last G1 command only contains an X co-ordinate, the Workbee will ignore all subsequent Y moves (and only move along the X axis)

If I manually change the gcode line G1X280.0421F2794.0 to G1X280.0421Y261.2008F2794.0 it works perfectly and follows both co-ordinates fine.

I’m using firmware 3.3 and have created the gcode in grbl, ugs grbl and workbee gcode in Carveco. All the same results.

Questions are

Do I need to include a G command at the start of every line? ( I notice Vectric vcarve pro and Fusion 360 seem to do this - so the problem never arises)

Should the above gcode work? ( if you omit a G command, should the system just use the last G command and move to the new co-ordinates)

Thanks

Richard

workbee behaving as though surface is uneven

I’m cutting both profiles and area clearances (workbee 1500, carveco software). It’s a fairly small sheet of 3 mm ply (40 x 60 cm).
