I've been working on a small mobile app to avoid having to lug the computer around for machine setup - it's very much not finished, but I wanted to see if anyone would like to try it out!

The two main features that I added are hold-to-move jog controls (though this is quite hacky, and not super precise) and a visual mode that lets you simply click on a representation of the work area to move the machine there.

Workbee was working great and I was excited to use it on my first project after working out some basics. however whilst cutting out the grid lines for my spoil board it decided it was only going to cut the verticle lines, and now whatever I do, it only cuts the left-hand side of any shape.
Spoiler board surfacing lines

Successfully assembled my 1000*1000 Workbee Z1+ and run a couple of test projects. Apart from one disaster caused by not tightening up my collet enough, all is going well for a complete CNC beginner. I tried to surface my spoiler board using the Amana 1 1/8 bit and it has left lines on the board. See attached photo. Is this normal of is there a problem with alignment of one of the axis, as it looks to be cutting deeper on one edge. I've checked all angles and they are close to 90deg in all directions (89.8 is the worst). Am I expecting too much perfection, or is this acceptable?

The lines look consistent across the whole board, and the first run at 0.5mm took an even amount off the whole board.

Sorry, but as a novice, I'm not sure what to expect, or how to fix it.

Hi

I'm very new to this so please bear with me if this question is a bit "noddy". I've built my WorkBee and I'm trying to make my first few cuts to check I've got a vague idea what I'm doing. I've created a test cut in Carbide Pro and uploaded the G-Code to the controller. However whereas I should be creating a shallow "square" cut (1mm deep) into my piece of MDF, the machine is dropping to make the cut, creating a small 1mm or so hole in the MDF and then backing away. I'm guessing it's a machine limits type problem but the console is not reporting an error.

ooznest work zero and coordinateystem

hello

my use time with the workbee is increasing steadily, I have a quick question, when using the touch probe does it only set the work zeros or will it also adjust the x and y directions if the workpiece is slightly skewed on the machine.?

For the work i have done to date this hasn't been an issue as its mostly been profiles with enough waste around the profile. i am gaining confidence with the machine and now progressing to cutting profiles, doing some laminations off the machine, and then i would like to re introduce the job back on the machine to put a drilling pattern onto it. The plan is to leave a reference corner on the profile which i can then use with the touch probe to set a work zero. If it then can align work x and y axes to the touch probe that makes everything simple, if not i have to find a way :)..

How much does the spindle on the Z axis raise?

The machine is advertised to be able to cut through 44mm of material.

I wanted to get an idea of how high the spindle travelled the z axis from the spoil board when it is raised.

I presume its meant that about 44mm +1/2mm of exposed end mill would be the limit of exposed end mill and material thickness combo?

With different length end mills, it would be good to know what kind of clearance you would get from using an end mill exposed at 20/30/40/50mm.

If I use a longer endmill, can I cut thicker material.all the way through, will the spindle raise high enough to clear the work?

If the Z axis were taller, I could get a cutting depth of the longest 1/4" end mills I can find, but raising the spindle high enough to clear the work is a bit unclear.

Hope I'm not being obtuse.
