Troubleshoot after upgrading the firmware

Hi everyone,

I’ve have a former version of workbee cnc machine (1000x1000 screw driven)

I have a trouble issue with my duet 2 board and needed to reboot it and it was the time to update the last firmware (v3.3.0-1.2 ) on the board.

The problem is that I can’t home the machine.

The y motors are not synchronised ( one motors is turn to the opposite way)
The z can go down but can’t go up
If the drill is in the middle of the table, the Z axis is going down, otherwise if I put manually the machine to position 0,0,0 and I clicked on home all, the machine is shaking.

Post Processor for Aspire?

Hi there…just got my Z1+ finally built and want to proceed to surfacing the Spoilboard.

I have created a file using Vectric but I need to select a suitable Post-processor from the dropdown list and don’t know which one to choose…

Can you please advise?

Hi !

I have a problem with my workbee v2 1500x1500, the rounds are stretched and I wasnt able to find the problem. Any suggestions?

Already tightened couplers and reseted the steps to back to normal.

How do I know when the machine or firmware needs an update.

I haven’t updated anything since I got the machine. I have just totally forgotton about it. I recently had to upgrade my computers so I got to thinking about if the machine or duet or anything else needed to be updated. If so, what do I need to do and how? I had the machine since June of 2019.

Feed and speed and breaking bits

Hi guys, I’m relatively new to the CNC world and have been struggling to get a consistent profile cut through 18mm melamine faced MDF.Im using the Z1+ with the Mafell milling motor and Carveco Maker as the design software.I have recently broken a 1/4 Amana Down cut bit after reducing the feed rate from 70ipm to 50ipm ( 18000 rpm ) although I’m unsure wether or not the stress may have been caused prior to this reduction.Im also finding that when I use a 1/4” compression bit , the bit is being pulled from the machine. The machine is also making a loud screeching sound , however i’m not sure if this is normal or not.Has anyone got any experience cutting this material that can offer me advice on what speed , feed and bit I need to be looking at.Also, should I be altering the recommended rates for the end mills in the Carveco Maker software to suit the Workbee ? Thanks.

I have no g code viewer. I can still run simulation but that just works out time. It was there when i first assembled the machine now its not. How do I reinstall it?

Folks is the Workbee Web Interface Software public on Github?

I have built a pendant with Paneldue and rotary encoder and want to implement some more functions like Pause. I want to look at how The Web Interface does it so I can clone the G-Code commands and not make any mistakes.

Issue with software and G Code

Hiya everyone, hope there is a simple solution to this. I’m using Carveco Maker and it allows me to do the designs but when I go to produce them I get a message in the right corner of my screen saying something about there not being any G Code. I’ve tried to download the G Code that’s demonstrated on Youtube by Ooznest but I’m not having any luck. Can anyone help me.

P.S I’m not into software so any replies have to be as simple as possible.

Machine still moves after Limit switch being triggered

I have a situation that the X access limit switch shows as triggered, however it does not stop the machine and it continues to move !

My z limit switch (limit switch 2) is flipped compared to the guide.

The reason this is how I mounted it is because the bend of the wire(the 2 metal connectors) wouldn’t allow for the limit switch to be flipped the other way.

Is this ok?

Z limit switch not working after firmware upgrade

I’ve been using the old firmware since I bought my Workbee back in 2019. I’v never had any issues so I never bothered to upgrade the firmware (if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it). I just purchased an Optlasers add on and it requires the most recent firmware. I followed all the steps to upgrade but once it was all done, none of my limit switches worked. After swapping the wires in the connectors on the Duet and adding a “!” to the config file, I finally got the x and y axis’ working but the z won’t trigger no matter what I do. Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Motors not at idle on swich on

Just had reason to totally rebuild my WorkBee but electronics/wiring not changed.

I am convinced that previously as soon as I switched on the 24V PSU all the motors were at idle mode, wether connected to the PC or not. Now they are all unpowered until I jog or Home, then they rest at idle as I would expect.

Was running version 1.0.7.3, issue as above. Upgraded to latest 3.3.3 same issue. It is not really a problem just that I am sure this is now different after the rebuild.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour ?

Building a Pendant can I also add a speed control dial?

Folks I am building a pendant https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheCNCGr... and I am also upgrading my spindle to the Mafell FM 1000 PV for digital rpm control. I would also like to be able to control the Speed setting slider in the interface using a dial on the pendant. Could you point me in the right direction to understand this? The Pendant runs on Arduino so I can process the dial into any format of control required.

This may be redundant as Im also using the PanelDue in the pendant but I like physical controls

'Connecting' blue bar on DWC but not connecting

I can see I am connected on the duet to wifi and the M552 command confirms connection as well as my IP address for DWC.

However, when I visit the address I am met with a blue bar that says “Connecting…” but never appears to connect.

Firmware has been updated to the latest version and it was working fine yesterday?!

Any help here must appreciated!

Workbee control panel for pc download.. Where is it?

Hello. Not sure if im being unbelievably thick but where is the workbee control panel software for loading onto pc. All i can find is tutorials on firmware and cam software.

Workbee Z+1 axis is acting funny

I am a little perplexed with the Z axis on my Workbee Z+1 right now as it will sometimes home but sometimes it won’t. If it does home, when I jog it down or touch off to the probe it sometimes won’t retract it will just keep moving in the negative direction. Now, if I try to rehome, after several attempts it will usually home and then repeat this cycle.

So, I’m pretty sure the issue is not with the motor because it will operate in both the positive and negative direction. I think the issue is with either the limit switch or the limit switch cable. Is there a way I can verify that this is the issue before ordering a new limit switch and it not being the problem?

Any suggestion are appreciated!

Work Origin shifted in Y-axis after performing Power Loss Resume

Hi,

This has been a recurring issue with the Workbee whenever we pause and resume a job. The work origin, specifically in the Y-axis, will get offset by a certain amount. This obviously causes problem with the cutting.

As a workaround I had to be prepared to stop the cut after resuming, measure out the offset by looking at the actual cut vs. where it supposed to be, and then redefine the y-axis work coordinates.

Does anyone else have any idea what might have caused the shift and how to prevent this from happening?

Ethernet port lights not working

I don't get any lights on the ethernet port. and i’m unable to connect to the machine

when i run M115 i get this returned

How to learn gcode/macros

What is the best resource for learning enough about gcode to make simple macros which will identify positions for the machine to move to. eg front centre, maximum height to fit dust shoe/change end mill

Can I connent 2 workbee z1+ to one pc?

Is it possible to connect and control at the same time two workbee z1+ to one pc? In my workshop I don't have decent WiFi so both machines will use ethernet cable.
