Touch probe control - Endmill diameter

I've designed a simple bit of text to cut out using Carveco. I've specified in Carveco the bit I'll be using as an Amana 45624-K 60 deg v-carve bit from the database and exported the g-code.

Once I'm in Workbee control and I've imported the g-code do I need to specify in the touch probe control section the endmill diameter and if so am I putting the width of the shank, 6.35mm in this case or the width of the cut diameter? Or is this all handled by the Carveco software?

Green arrow from Ooznest website

ooznest work zero and coordinateystem

hello

my use time with the workbee is increasing steadily, I have a quick question, when using the touch probe does it only set the work zeros or will it also adjust the x and y directions if the workpiece is slightly skewed on the machine.?

For the work i have done to date this hasn't been an issue as its mostly been profiles with enough waste around the profile. i am gaining confidence with the machine and now progressing to cutting profiles, doing some laminations off the machine, and then i would like to re introduce the job back on the machine to put a drilling pattern onto it. The plan is to leave a reference corner on the profile which i can then use with the touch probe to set a work zero. If it then can align work x and y axes to the touch probe that makes everything simple, if not i have to find a way :)..

Tool Diameter and Machine Limits.

Is the tool diameter taken into account with error "outside mahine limits"?

I wish to surface a spoilboard and have generated G-code with travel lines based on the machine limits - assuming that the cutter would travel on those limits ok, but cut the tool's radius beyond those limits - so the surfacing would go a little beyond the limits. I am getting the "out of machine limits" error. Do I need to reduce my pocket size to subtract the tool dimension so it only cuts to the limit lines?

How much does the spindle on the Z axis raise?

The machine is advertised to be able to cut through 44mm of material.

I wanted to get an idea of how high the spindle travelled the z axis from the spoil board when it is raised.

I presume its meant that about 44mm +1/2mm of exposed end mill would be the limit of exposed end mill and material thickness combo?

With different length end mills, it would be good to know what kind of clearance you would get from using an end mill exposed at 20/30/40/50mm.

If I use a longer endmill, can I cut thicker material.all the way through, will the spindle raise high enough to clear the work?

If the Z axis were taller, I could get a cutting depth of the longest 1/4" end mills I can find, but raising the spindle high enough to clear the work is a bit unclear.

Hope I'm not being obtuse.

Thankyou :)

Why is the cutter not going into my material

I have recently surfaced my Workbee 1500x1500 and since doing so, when i set up a job using V carve pro and run it the cutter doesn't cut into the material. It follows the tool path created but it's skimming above the surface of the material i want to cut by about 6mm. The material I'm using is 6mm thick and i have used the touch probe to set up my work xyz. Do i need to re-calibrate the Z height or somthing, because i've surfaced the spoil board? I can't work out what is wrong. Can anyone help please.

Workbee Control Software - Jobs screen layout

Hi,

In the Workbee Control Software, "Jobs" screen layout, is there anyway to modify the display.

The reason I ask is that when I want to select a job from the list all those I have created, I have to scroll down and down through a narrow column list of word-wrapped names. However, there are 6 columns to the right (to do with 3D printing I think), which are of no use to me. If I could remove/hide the unwanted columns, I could then have the job filename's column much wider and display a lot more files per screen, by turning word-wrap off!

I know this is not a major thing, but I think it would be helpful to all those of us who don't use/want 3D printer files info cluttering up their screen unnecessarily.

PS: I've had a look around at all the multitude of settings, but couldn't see anything related to display settings.

Living in hope for a solution!
