Y plate wheel adjustment.

Has anyone tried to adjust the eccentric nuts on the “Y” plates after completing their build.with spoil board fitted and frame fixed to table, even with a ground down skinny spanner it is virtually impossible. Even if you are lucky enough to get the wheel tensions correct during assembly, they will need adjustment eventually. Surely it would make it a lot easier if the eccentric nuts were fitted to the top wheels of the Y plate assembly and then any adjustments could be made with ease. I cannot see what difference this would make mechanically to the operation of the workbee. I really don’t want to have to remove my spoil board and detach frame from my table to complete what could be a 10 minute job.

What is the purpose of the Calibration Endmill?

Hi,

Apologies if this is really obvious. I ordered the Workbee Z1 + , which has been received and is in full working order. I have a query on a bit I received with it called a Calibration Endmill 0.006" x 1.4" x 2.2" x 30 deg. I'm not sure of the purpose of this endmill. Is it just a 30 deg v bit for carving or does it have some other purpose that I am unaware of.

Thanks

Computer specification advice needed

Workbee ordered.

I have a fairly high spec, expensive, laptop for running cad/cam etc but don’t like the idea of travelling back and forth to my garage with it. Aside from the moving around, I am not happy at exposing it to the dusty environment in there. So would like to setup a cheaper system that can stay in the garage dedicated to the workbee just for gcode files etc. Any advice on minimum specs.

Cannot access Duet Webcontrol but can ping from Windows 10 computer

Hi Ooznest. I recently followed this guide to set up a direct ethernet connection between a Windows 10 computer and my WorkBee:

2. Connecting your Duet to a Network - Ethernet

Unfortunately, at the end of the configuration I cannot access Webcontrol via the IP address. However, using command prompt I can successfully ping the WorkBee at the fixed IP address I assigned. I’ve been using YAT to try and debug, and all standard commands seem to return sensible values (M21, M503, M552, M554, M553, M503).

I have tried disabling the Windows 10 firewall and turning on various sharing options for the local intranet. I’ve tried accessing the web control from both MS Edge and Google Chrome. I’ve tried disabling IPV6. I am currently using a standard ethernet cable (not a crossover) since the computer is relatively new (if it matters, the driver for the ethernet adapter is listed as Qualcomm Atheros r8172/8176). I am running wifi as well, but set up the (wired ethernet) on a different subnet as the guide above shows.

So all in all, I’m confused why the pinging works but I cannot access the web control from a browser. Any tips much appreciated, and of course I’d be happy to post more output from YAT or enter into discussion to help resolve the issue.

Tramming and squaring the spindle

Hi, is there an official method for tramming the spindle ? I have a Mafell one and the 43mm 3d printed adapter that is needed to fit the standard router mount of the workbee isn’t really flat and it’s relative flexibility doesn't allow for a repeatable positioning of the spindle.

I am trying to square it around the Y axis using the 4 screws of the router mount, but I find it hard to fine tune it. For the X axis, I was considering shimming between the router mount and the Z axis C-beam, but I also consider trying to rotate the whole X c-beam on its mounting plates. What do you recommend ?

Thanks.

I start compensation process and move XYZ probe under my tool so when it touches probe, it will save it’s Z height on that spot and move to next point.
