Attaching Katsu Router stage

Hello, first time builder of an Ooznest, so I’m taking it slow but have become a bit confused.

I’m at the stage I’m trying to attach the router, but I think I’m either missing a part or I have something installed wrong.

In the box with the Router came the dust guard, but the 65mm 3D printed collar doesn’t fix inside the guard and I’m a little confused on how the collar would be clamped to the mount as there isn’t a way to attach it via the four screws. Do need to disregard the collar and just clamp the router via the M8-Cap-Head-25mm Bolt on the mount?

Webserver timeout, not responding, but board responds to ping

Had something odd happen yesterday. My CNC was powered off for a few weeks and despite it behaving correctly before shutdown, when I powered it on and tried to connect the control page timed out. Connecting over USB was successful but gave me no further information about the issue.

I checked with the person who manages our network (ethernet) and they confirmed that when connected to a known good ethernet cable and port the board was responding to ping commands. But when scanned it showed a weird response on the web-server port, in their words the scanning software reported the web server as active but it wasn’t sure about it.

Then I took a stupid step. Lacking non-network methods for updating firmware I went to the Duet site and followed their instructions for installing firmware over USB. This involved formatting the SD card, and idiotically I did not make a backup. After the wipe, copying their card image, and configuring the correct IP address over USB, I was still not able to connect over the network.

At this point, I’m requesting a known good SD card image to burn and verify that this is not a software issue before I move on to exploring hardware related failures.

Y Axis squeak, possibly ACME nut blocks?

I’m just getting my 750x750 screw machine commissioned and I’ve run into a problem with the y axis.

When I first tested the y axis movement the whole gantry went out of square and there were a lot of mechanical ‘complaints’ from things binding and griding.

I did a quick read and discovered that I hadn’t tensioned things with the little hand wheel.

This was done and the gantry now moves straight without the binding and grinding, but I’ve got some nasty sqeaking noises that come and go as the lead screws turn.

The noise seems to be from the Y plates - I’m guessing something to do with the ACME nut blocks. The wheels seemed fine during the initial mechanical build.

I’m presuming that this is a common set up issue and I’d like to avoid disassembling too much in a random attempt to fix it!

Any help appreciated!

How to run automatic mesh compensation using router bit as probe?

I am looking for a way to use the XYZ probe connector on my machine to perform automatic mesh compensation on pcb blanks; you might expect it to work similarly to how the XYZ probe works but over a defined area. After following the duet guide on mesh compensation it appears when you run G29 it defaults to running manual mesh compensation (because no probe is defined?), if this is the case is there a simple way to define a probe for mesh compensation? (also a G92 Z0 command is required before running G29 or else it will try to bring the tool head to machine 0 not work 0)
