Dense alert: you're exactly right. The workpiece was set too far up the bed and the cutter couldn’t reach it. It just so happened to stop on a particular arc and I went down a Google rabbit hole. There was plenty of room on the other end too, just didn't think when I was fixing the piece down. 2 days I lost to that! Live and learn.
