Inconsistent cut depth (not levelling-related)

Hi! I noticed on some pocket cuts that the actual cut depth on neighbouring paths can vary by as much as 0.6mm - my only theory is that this is caused by the head flexing when cutting towards one path in one direction and the neighbouring one in the opposing one, but the difference seems extremely large, which is worrying me a bit, and is forcing me to do a lot of cleanup

Some details

1500x1500 machine, mafell router head

these pockets are along the Y axis, but the same issue occurs when cutting in Y direction

These particular ones were cut with a 6mm 2 flute downcut endmill, at about 12k rpm, 2000 mm/min, 3mm depth of cut, in birch ply

stepover was quite conservative (about 3mm)

I’m also having problems with chatter and vibration in the router head - I’ll make a separate post about that, but mentioning it here as I wouldn’t be surprised if the problems are related

Workbee Hardware Revisions List?

Hi

I have just got hold of a used Workbee. The seller does not know exactly what version it is and there are no obvious identifying marks.

It has leadscrews and a Duet controller so I guess it is V2 or later but it is at least 18 moths old I am told.

I see there are build guides for various revisions of V2.

Is there a place listing the changes made in the various revisions so that I can narrow down which Guide I should use when checking over the build?

X Axis Homing Position Accuracy

Hi, I have a part that I need to machine from both sides so I have cut dowel holes into my spoil board to ensure accurate positioning and used the machine position to set the origin.

This works accurately for a time, however after I home the axes a few times I find the machine position has changed and no longer aligns with the dowel positions. The axis remains consistently offset by the same amount after multiple homings.

I have tried the following:

1) Making sure the microswitches are firmly positioned with no play.

2) Keeping the microswitches free of dust / chips.

3) Ensuring there's no excessive play in either axis.

4) Ensuring the spoilboard isn't moving.

I've only noticed the error on the x axis and it's usually around 1mm. Any ideas how I can improve the accuracy of the end stop?
