Recommended Extraction for z1+

Hi, I have my Z1+ built, including enclosure and dust shoe. I hadn't actually thought about extraction though. Is there a recommended dust extraction system that works well?
New Z1+ on the way, how can I switch the spindle on/off using an SSR.

Hi,

I'm currently waiting for the delivery of my Workbee Z1+ 750mm x 750mm.

I also own a Workbee 1510 that I've converted to a screw drive and it has been as solid as a rock, the controller for this is the excellent Openbuilds Black Box and controlling the spindle is very easy using the tool output connections then using a solid state relay to control spindle and extraction when I start a program.

I've been looking around and am I right in thinking that I can use either one of the heated bed outputs or a spare fan output for the tool on/off, +5 volts or VIN to the SSR, I've not used a duet controller so it's going to be another learning curve and reading up it seems this controller is very good but not quite as simple to use as the blackbox.

Thanks for any help.

Still trying to surface my Spoiler Board .. HELP ;-)

So have cut my test file and indeed a second file from Sketchup via Cut2d. This flagged that my Spoiler board is not true so am now looking to surface it. Watched a great video that Xavier suggested (thanks!) - But I simple cant get it to work. My spoiler Board is as recommend for the 1500xq500 machine- i,e 1360 x 1200. I have repositioned it so that the top right hand corner is below the HOME coordinates. I have even now made a ToolPath that is 1270x1200 so that it is within the safe area (although I have also reset the safe area to 1360-althuogh it seems to only have added this to one side in 3d view?) either way i get that attached - and outside of machine limits. I have followed the fix that is on the forum regarding Z axis..

So I have now built my z1 1500x1500. Great guides- very easy to follow. Only hit three snags- Tensioning (no idea how to go bout that- tried and just seems to muck everythign up. So any guidence on that would be great, One of the Y axis leads is a tad tight and the screw for the Z axis is too long for the spacer for a Mafel. Machine looks amazing and cant wait to get started.

So.... spolier board... Any guidence on making one and installing one? As I may be being daft but cant see a guide and from reading it seems this is kinda important part of the build.

However still cant surface my spoiler board. As recommended I have a 1360x1200 x18mm spoiler board but my machines work area is 1270 x 1270 - so it wont run it.

Wifi diconnects every minute

Hi

I've seen a related question but I think my issue is slightly different. I have recently finished my Workbee build, and am delighted with the machine. I have an irritating problem however. I have no issues with connecting and using the machine, however after about a minute or so, my laptop will disconnect and reconnect. This can become infuriating if you are in the middle of moving the xyz to a new zero, or if you are in the process of uploading files. It happens repeatedly every minute or so, although the time is not the same each time.

I have checked that I have the latest version of firmware etc. I have looked through settings but there doesnt seem to be any network settings on the console. Can anyone help with some guidance to get a stable wifi connection?

Cannot initialise SD card 0: Card is unusable

I am having trouble with my duet, WorkBee Z1+ has worked well since I built it in June 2024. Due to time restrictions, I have only used it a few days every month. I have come to use it after spending a month designing Christmas presents for family and I couldn't get it to connect to the wifi. I assumed this was something to do with my phone updating (I have used my hotspot so far to control the workbee), this wasn't too big a worry as I now have wifi in my workshop and had intended on setting up the machine on it when i had time. So I plugged it in to my laptop via usb and ran some tests on YAT

M552 S0

ok<LF>WiFi module is idle<LF>

M552 S1

ok<LF>WiFi module is connected to access point POCO X4 Pro 5G, IP address 192.168.200.221<LF>RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet version 3.3<LF>Warning: Cannot initialise SD card 0: Card is unusable<LF>WiFi is disabled.<LF>RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet is up and running.<LF>

I then noticed it "Warning: Cannot initialise SD card 0: Card is unusable", which is odd because I haven't changed anything. I got the following response on the ip address

Your Duet rejected the HTTP request: page not found
Check that the SD card is mounted and has the correct files in its /www folder

so I set up on the new wifi with the following

M552 S0

ok<LF>WiFi module started<LF>

M587 S"TP-Link_F5F3" P"37939137"

I received the same error about the SD card on both the web browser and in YAT

I then formatted the SD Card, downloaded the "wifi " from the top of WorkBee Firmware Releases

I extracted those files onto the SD card and am left with the same errors about the SD Card

I am at the end of my ability to trouble shoot this issue. your help would be greatly appreciated.

M32 M37 error(s) file not found

Hi,

After running the test project without issue I've been unable to start any of the actual projects I got the machine for.

It turns out that any gcode I generate (MESHCAM and Carbide Create so far) gives out a "file not found" error when started or simulated.

All can be uploaded to the workbee's SD card and be loaded into the 3d GCode viewer module, edited or renamed just fine. Which tells me the machine can find the files alright. In the viewer however, only the travels are displayed without any of the operations, unlike what happens if I load the first project.

CAMotics as been used to simulate the files outside their generator and read all of them flawlessly, so I suppose the issue must come from the workbee itself.

I have noticed that the first project will also give an object height in the job list while mine won't, so I suspect all the above points to some compatibility issue somewhere in there.

Is there any specific requirements for the workbee's gcode formatting or post processing required? The files generated by both cam software are .nc and I've already tried renaming them to .gcode like the first project file, without any effect.

I can provide the diagnostic readout or files via mail should you ask, doing so apparently flagged my question for deletion
