Machine makes a slight 'rattle' when leadscrews are tightened

Hello!

I have a 1500x1500 machine that I freshly set up. everything seems to be in order, however the machine made a slight ‘rattle‘ when jogging.

I thought it could be solved by tightening the leadscrews a little, but that didn’t seem to help. However if I just loosen the collet slightly and allow the screw to relax a bit it seems to run nice and smooth.

Any idea why this may be?

Am I ok to leave the lead screws slightly relaxed or will there be drawbacks?

thanks,

Fran

Hi Francesco,

Thanks for your question.

If you tighten everything back up again and apply some WD40 PTFE Lubricant that should help reduce it.

Hello!

in the end it was a couple of faulty bearings causing the issue. replaced them and checked the distance between the motor shaft and acme screws and the machine is back in action.
