Y axis movement by hand

Hello,

Should I be able to rotate the Y Axis screw using the flexible couplers by hand?

Currently I am able to quite easily do this on the Left side but not so much the right.

Note: I am still at the mechanical build stage 5 step 4.

Cheers

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your email. With no controller or power, yes this will be possible.

Once you connect the controller and start moving the machine from the interface, they will lock up.

Best Regards

Thanks for the answer Ryan!

What happens if it does take more force to rotate this on one Y-axis screw vs the other? Is this an issue at all?

To test - I removed the stepper motor (leaving the coupler on the end of the lead screw) and it's still difficult to turn.

Cheers

Hi Simon. Sorry for the delay, they should be turnable by hand with moderate force. If it is really tight, it could be an issue. But it may loosen up after operation. If you are still having emails. Please get in touch here: https://ooznest.co.uk/help/#tab_technica...

Thanks Ryan! All sorted - I had threaded the nut block with my immense strength :) Replaced and all is good now.
