Machine bumps into Y gantry with dust shoe on

Hi, my machine's dust shoe is hitting into the Y gantry on the zero-ed side but not the other side? The limit switch is fitted correctly on the X axis and seems to be working correctly. Any suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your email.

Does the machine home without bumping with the Dust Shoe fitted?

It normally should home ok. Just when you start a job, I would always try to remember to start the job from the Work Zero position, rather than the home position.

Best Regards

Robert

You're right it doesn't bump in when homed? It was only noticed when I was doing a spoiler board surfacing. Does this mean I can't do that? Why doesn't it bump into the other side?

On 2nd thoughts this doesn't help.

When homing the Z axis is homed first. So the dust shoe is lifted above the Y axis gantry before homing the X axis?

When surfacing you are using the absolute maximum of your work area. So, in this case, make it slightly smaller and surface. Then set up another toolpath to do the final edges without the dust shoe fitted.

Shame you have to use a workaround to use the whole machine
