Adding another limit switch on the Y Axis?

I have a 1000x1000 workbee cnc and I am loooking to add another limit switch for the Y axis as I sometimes find the axis out of square after some use. Would it be a case of ordering a limit switch with an extra long cable and connecting it to the board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Desmonni,

Thanks for your email. You can attach another limit switch to the machine and do as you propose. You will need to alter the homing sequence though, to separate out the two Y-Axis, home individually, and then recombine them into a single axis.

Can you explain in more detail what is required to add another limit switch? I assume that the switch would need to be connected to E1 in the Duet control, but how would one go about spiting the axis, adjusting the homing sequence and then recombining into a single axis. Could this all be part of a macro?

@mjharvey13 Hi Martin,

Thanks for your comment. This would all be done within the homeall.g file. You basically need to look at the code inside configaxes.g, and redefine the axes at the start of homeall.g into 4, then put it back as per configaxes.g at the end of homeall.g

Has anyone done this? Would be nice to know how.

Yes, works great. let me know if you need any further information.

Any Details? Its the splitting the axis I might need info on, and if the limit switches are in parallel or series or separate altogether. I'd be worried about homing the axis and then one moving first. Do they home together at the same time? Etc Etc
