Hi Steve,

Thanks for your question. This means there is not enough clearance for the machine to make the move without the machine crashing into itself.

Are you doing an X/Y and Z Probe?

Hi Robert, thanks for your answer. I'm following the instructions, or at least I think I am. I am trying to do an XY and Z position. I've tried everything I can think of but after the machine finds its Z position, the M98 Probe error comes up. What is 'Target position'?

@slanaway Hi Steve, it is either because your material is too thick. Or you're too close to the front left corner. The probe needs room to carry the probe, and if it hasn't got this room, it will give the error you are seeing?

This is happening to me as well.

Z probing will run and stop when hitting the probe which is when it gives the error.

I cant even corner probe when in the middle of the work area on or off of material because it gives the error before moving.

Hi Chris,

If you are in the middle of the work area, then probably your Z-Axis causing it.

How thick is your material?

Thanks

Ive tried it without material and its still happening.

Z probe errors soon as it makes contact with the probe whether on 1, 2, or no pieces of 3/4" MDF.

Corner probe errors as soon as i click the probe button before even moving regardless of where it is in the work area.

Update:

I used the string M564 S0 H0 to allow the machine to exceed its limits.

The Z worked but when it raised it "exceeded its limit" by trying to surpass the height.

I checked the probe config and it looks like its trying to raise/lower the height by 10:

M400

G91

M563 P49 S"XYZ-Probe"

T49

M585 Z-10 F500 P0 S1

T-1

M400

G10 L20 Z10

G1 Z5 F500

M500

G90

M563 P49 D-1 H-1

M291 P"Probe complete. Work zero set. Please remove probe." R"Success" S1

------------

I tried to change the value but it seems to default every time.

That "10" is an issue because i used G20 to set to inches. I set it back to G21 mm and it worked.

All of my projects/tools are in inches so ultimately i need a remedy to be able to modify the probe settings without it resetting to the default.

How can i modify the probe config so that it doesnt reset and i can retain the settings for inches?
