Height reference tool measurements

Just noticed after trying to use the height reference tool to aid some marking out. The 17.60mm is indeed 17.60mm but the 50mm is actually 53mm. Is this correct? If so then why is one measurement marked so accurately yet the other is 3mm over the marked dimension? I don’t think 3mm will make much difference when fitting router mount but it is confusing.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Tezza,

Thanks for your information on this we will have to look into this.

The height reference tool is more to insure the mount is perfectly perpendicular to the Z-Axis.

With the Katsu/Makitas/Dewalts, the position of it is not massively important. So it being 3mm higher is fine.

Just drop the router down inside the clamp 3mm, to make it flush with the bottom of the Z-Axis.

Thanks, i totally understand the purpose of the reference tool. What worried me was you have gone as far as marking up the tool to a 10th of a millimetre accuracy, then to find a 3mm discrepancy made me think am I missing something. All ok now.
