Operating the WorkBee in a near vertical orientation?

Can the WorkBee be operated with the table in a vertical (or near vertical) orientation rather than (flat) horizontal to minimize the workshop footprint for a given table size ? I’ve just started reading through all of the excellent documentation but didn’t immediately see any guidance on siting or orienting the equipment. I can imagine there might be some challenges with leadscrew wear driving the carriage against gravity; some challenges with securing raw material to the base; ensuring the steppers are at the “top” rather than the bottom etc but wondered if running a machine at a tilt of say 80-degrees is viable ?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your post. We would not recommend running it in the vertical direction, it will put unneeded extra strain on the machine. As it will not only have to push the machine through the material but also lift the gantries weight.

Storing the machine vertical is ok, and folding it out when needed. This may be a good compromise.
