I’m going to need a high amount of storage on my Workbee Z1 , is this just a case of switching the Sd Card for a higher capacity one or does this hold information for the machine itself?

Thanks for your question. Yes, you can switch it to one with a higher capacity. There are system files on the SD Card, so make sure you copy across all the contents of your current SD Card. You can use an SD Card up to 32gb, and it should be formatted as FAT32.
