How to learn gcode/macros

What is the best resource for learning enough about gcode to make simple macros which will identify positions for the machine to move to. eg front centre, maximum height to fit dust shoe/change end mill

Very useful and give examples.

It is mainly the G Commands you will probably want to look at.
