Work Origin shifted in Y-axis after performing Power Loss Resume

Hi,

This has been a recurring issue with the Workbee whenever we pause and resume a job. The work origin, specifically in the Y-axis, will get offset by a certain amount. This obviously causes problem with the cutting.

As a workaround I had to be prepared to stop the cut after resuming, measure out the offset by looking at the actual cut vs. where it supposed to be, and then redefine the y-axis work coordinates.

Does anyone else have any idea what might have caused the shift and how to prevent this from happening?

Thank you.

Justin

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your email.

It is either backlash in your lead screw or an issue with the limit switch.

If you home your machine. Then move to the Work Zero. Then move away from the home position a good amount, and then go back to the Work Zero. Keep repeating this and see if it keeps going back to the correct position. (Do not press any Home buttons while doing this)

If it keeps going back to the correct position, then your issue is with the limit switches.

Hi Robert,

I just done a quick test and was able to reproduce the issue. I followed your advice and had to move it twice before it went back to the correct Work Zero.

I can always make sure to double check the origin in between pausing and continuing a job but is there a more permanent solution to this?

Thank you.

@justintan Thanks for your comment. So to confirm when you did my above steps, it did not go correctly back to the Work Zero?

If so, then there is probably backlash in your system. If you hold the lead screw in your hand, and then try to move it in the axial direction. Is there any movement?
