Mafell 1/4" collet not allowing 1/4" shank bit to fit!

Hi!

I've got the mafell mf1000 and just switched out to a 1/4” collet. Can't seem to fit any bits of 1/4” shank. Am I missing something? Or possibly a faulty collet?

On the side of the collet, there is an engraving, does it say 1/4” ?
