Is it possible to "scan" a 3D object with workbee?

When doing my last software upgrade I saw in the reprap software that it now has sensor input for measuring the height of an object (I think if I understood correctly). Make sme wonder if I could use a type of touch sensor (not the z probe) , maybe using pressure or light to determine points over an object and scan part of a 3D model. For example, I have a Boat hull for a model that is too large and I want to scale down and then carve. It's a hugely complex shape and it would save me an age if I could scan it. I've tried photogrammetry with zero success.

Hi Pete,

With the Duet, nearly anything is possible as it is so expandable. So this probably is possible. But it isn't something we have looked into, so would not how to set it up.

You may be best asking on the Duet forum: https://forum.duet3d.com/
