Z axis moving further down than it should on each pass

HISTORY
I've had a CNC Machine for many years and I decide to 'Upgrade' to Duet 2 and Workbee software.

I have a Gcode file that has 3 or 4 profiles to cut, so on the first profile z goes to -2mm then as it moves the z axis seems to say its going to -4 but when I measured the depth it was like 6mm.

Something does not seem right. when I checked the work zero it was perfect.

Anyone else had the z axis going further than it should?

Hi Les,

Thanks for your question.

When not cutting a file, does the Z-Axis move the correct distances?

It appears to, yes. I have checked the cutting bit is secure as well, as I have had it drop out lower and lower before.

Do you have a test file at all? for cutting depths?

I am going to do a test cut at some point I have just not had the time. I have also just made my gcode file purely gcode, no tool changes or spindle speeds.

Need to test in a particular way.

Hi Les,

Ok, that is strange.

We have this file here: First Project

This has a total cut depth of -3mm
