Oscillation on trying to home device.

On the 750mm WB, when I try to home any or all axes, the Z stepper motor oscillates at about 10Hz. I don't think any of the other SMs move.

I have tried the following:

  1. Power off controller and can move all the SMs by hand - so no binding.
  2. Tried clicking on/of several times all SMs and cleaning with light air spray. I hear the associated clicking noise when the SM is tripped.
  3. Tried closing down browser dashboard and controller and powering up.
  4. Disconnected and reconnected the Z-axis SM electrical connector.

Can you help please?
Many thanks,
Phil Hughes #12227

Further info: on sending M119 it looks like the z-axis micro-switch is always "not closed", which would explain the rapid jittering. Does this mean I need to replace the switch?

Phil.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for reaching out. Based on your description, it seems the Z-axis limit switch might not be functioning correctly. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot:

  1. Check Limit Switch Status: In WorkBee Web Control, navigate to Settings > Machine Specific > Sensors. Manually press and hold the Z-axis limit switch. The status should change to 'Triggered'. If it doesn't, the switch may be faulty.
  2. Inspect for Debris: Sometimes, dust or debris can prevent the switch from operating correctly. Clean the switch thoroughly and test it again.
  3. Verify Wiring: Ensure the limit switch wiring is correctly connected and not damaged. Refer to the wiring diagrams in the assembly manual for guidance.
  4. Test the Switch: If after cleaning and checking the wiring the switch still doesn't respond, it might need to be replaced.

If you've gone through these steps and the issue persists, please contact our technical support team at https://ooznest.co.uk/help/ so we can better assist you.
