Cannot access Duet Webcontrol but can ping from Windows 10 computer

Hi Ooznest. I recently followed this guide to set up a direct ethernet connection between a Windows 10 computer and my WorkBee:

2. Connecting your Duet to a Network - Ethernet

Unfortunately, at the end of the configuration I cannot access Webcontrol via the IP address. However, using command prompt I can successfully ping the WorkBee at the fixed IP address I assigned. I’ve been using YAT to try and debug, and all standard commands seem to return sensible values (M21, M503, M552, M554, M553, M503).

I have tried disabling the Windows 10 firewall and turning on various sharing options for the local intranet. I’ve tried accessing the web control from both MS Edge and Google Chrome. I’ve tried disabling IPV6. I am currently using a standard ethernet cable (not a crossover) since the computer is relatively new (if it matters, the driver for the ethernet adapter is listed as Qualcomm Atheros r8172/8176). I am running wifi as well, but set up the (wired ethernet) on a different subnet as the guide above shows.

So all in all, I’m confused why the pinging works but I cannot access the web control from a browser. Any tips much appreciated, and of course I’d be happy to post more output from YAT or enter into discussion to help resolve the issue.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your question and detailed information.

First, are you trying to connect using the address: http://workbee.local/

If so can you try http://192.168.251.2/ instead?

Hi Robert,

Neither http://workbee.local/ nor http://192.168.251.2/ work. I assume the workbee address doesn't work because I am not using DCHP and have not set up DNS (recall I am trying to setup the direct connection). The IP address is different to the one I have assigned, but I updated as required and that also doesn't work (the IP I have assigned to the workbee is 192.168.2.1 since my wifi operates on subnet X.X.1.X). My ethernet adapter is configured at 192.168.2.2.

Thanks, Dan

Hi Nuno,

Do you have the Ethernet or Wifi version?

I am having the same problem connecting the duet to the control network. I have been using a wifi connection for 2 years without issues so cannot understand the problem. I have tried YAT but it can't find a WiFi connection. I recently upgraded my bt WiFi but it is configured to work on 2.4 ghz and 5ghz so there should be no problem.

Do I need to reinstall everything on the duet to get around this problem?

@jsr We just need to connect the Duet to your new router. i have emailed you the details on how to do this. Please do not reinstall everything on the Duet, this will cause more problems.
