Using the m5 x12mm bolt and measuring the thread protruding through the back of the plate and the depth to the top of the nut you only get 2mm, ish of thread into the nut.
I have used M5 x 16 bolts with a spring washer under the head The thread passes through the nut and stays short of the extrusion slot.
