X/Y out of square

After cutting in an X/Y fence, I’ve noticed that my X/Y axis aren’t running square to each other.. I’m approx 1mm out of square over 450mm.

When the machine is homed I have 22mm distance between the gantry and the back end plates on both sides. When the gantry is moved all the way to the front, I have 26mm between the gantry and the rig ht end plate and 29mm to the left end plate. Could this 3mm difference be the reason my X/Y is out of square? If so, how can I fix this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your post.

Yes, that would account for the out of square.

If you upgrade to our latest firmware here: How To Update WorkBee Firmware V1.0.7 > V3.3.0-1.2

You can then adjust the calibration of the lead screws individually to account for this difference: WorkBee Control Overview

Hi Robert, before I do this, can you advise what sort of scale I should be working with in my adjustment steps/mm? 10, 1, 0.1? Should I be looking to decrease the steps/mm on the right gantry and increase the steps on the left gantry until I find the balance that gives me equal plate distances on the front of the machine?

@bd142 Thanks for your comment. You can adjust one side to match the other.

From what you said above, it looks like one side is moving 1270mm (The max working area) but the other side is only moving 1267mm.

So for the side which is moving less, change the steps/mm to:

(1270/1267)*400 = 400.95

Hope that make sense
